My Bio<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

My professional mission <\/strong>is to break down barriers to scientific research, collaborations, and innovation-based commercialization and economic development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2013, I helped secure the largest jury verdict<\/strong> in the United States in In Re Urethanes Litigation<\/em>, Civil No. 04-md-1616-JWL (United States District Court, District of Kansas). That verdict is also reported to be the largest price-fixing verdict in the history of the U.S. Sherman Antitrust Act. I reported to the lead plaintiff counsel in that case. As a result of my legal experience of 22 years, I am versed in international law and<\/strong> the <\/strong>following legal areas in the U.S<\/strong>.: litigation, antitrust\/competition law, intellectual property law, immigration law, contract law, and scientific research, technology transfer and commercialization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protecting economies by litigating to compensate victims and to correct the wrongs in the marketplace inflicted by major corporations and financial institutions was satisfying. But these high profile commercial cases have also shown me the awesome potential for positive benefit to unleash when constructive actions are taken in the marketplace<\/strong>. This realization motivated me to gear my career <\/strong>in a direction which allows more for a proactive posture<\/strong> than litigation affords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My <\/strong>experience in research, technology transfer, commercialization, and economic development <\/strong>has been gained through litigation but also through academic, consultant, and executive engagements<\/strong>. The roles<\/strong> I held in the research domain include a position of an in-house legal counsel and a consultant at New Mexico’s largest and the most research intensive R1 university, research professor, law professor, compliance executive, and university liaison for university-industry partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My professional portfolio in research<\/strong> includes service as an attorney in private practice for 14 years, in public service for 8 years, and as an occasional Adjunct Law Professor of international law, immigration law, and intellectual property law. I am a recipient of the American Bar Association Award <\/strong>for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property Law for my legal research work which resulted in 2 legal textbooks that became primary sources in the legal field in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of my career in scientific research and economic development is the fact that I have polished my skills<\/strong> as an attorney but also as a client. <\/strong>Moreover, I have <\/strong>experienced the client roles both as a researcher and as a research executive.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to opening Ana AT Consulting, LLC in June of 2024, I poured my enthusiasm gained through these roles into establishing the legal, compliance, and contracting infrastructure<\/strong> for the first state-wide project<\/strong> involving New Mexico’s universities and community colleges. I continued this cutting-edge work in forming a consortium<\/strong> of 27 institutions stemming from the state-wide project. These projects afforded me the privilege of helping effectuate a very compelling mission. They have also amplified my passion for creating sustainable and efficient scientific platforms and networks in the U.S. and abroad, especially in my native Serbia. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I left Serbia to pursue college studies and have resettled in the U.S. in 1996 where I obtained my college and Juris Doctor <\/em>degrees. I am fluent in English and Serbo-Croatian and have been a paid speaker. My favorite part of consulting <\/strong>is helping clients remove obstacles to research and innovation-based commercialization, especially when building or maintaining research partnerships with the industry.
